Jointly organized by the Embassy of Afghanistan in Ottawa
and the Consulate General of Afghanistan in Toronto
in collaboration with the Afghan Community in the city of Toronto

ابراز می دارم. درگذشت این شخصیت برازنده ملی که سال های طولانی عمر خود را در
مقاومت و دفاع از سرزمین و مردم افغانستان سپری کرد، یک ضایعۀ جبران ناپذیری به
حساب می آید. ـ

Statement on the Passing away of the First Vice-president of Afghanistan

It is with deep sadness that we learn of the passing away of Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim, the First Vice-president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.  May his soul rest in peace.

President Karzai called the demise of Marshal Qasim Fahim, a great loss for Afghanistan and offered condolences to the people of Afghanistan on his passing away. 

The President described him as a patriotic Afghan and a great Mujahid who was at the service of his people.

Afghan Ministries Celebrate International Women's Day
March 5, 2014
LOn the eve of International Women's Day, the Ministry of Women's Affairs held an event in Kabul that focused on encouraging women to vote in the upcoming elections and highlighting the challenges they still face in society.

The leaders of the gathering asked women all over the country to participate in the Presidential and Provincial Council elections so that they can have a say in the future direction of the country.

Afghanistan Ministerial Delegation Participates in PDAC 2014
March 3, 2014
LSPA Sharif Ghalib accompanied the Ministerial delegation of Afghanistan to the Annual Convention of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, PDAC 2014. The event took place at the Metro Toronto Convention Center in Canada on March 2nd-5th.

Headed by H.E. Mohammad Akbar Barakzai, Minister of Mines of Petroleum of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and comprising 6 members, the delegation held extensive meetings and exchanges with counterparts, and various other delegations including the US Geological Survey and the World Bank.

Education at the Margins; Panel Discussing Education in Fragile & Conflict-Affected States

SPA Sharif Ghalib joined Alice Albright, Chief Executive Officer, Global Partnership for Education, and David Morley, President and CEO of UNICEF Canada, for sharing perspectives on lessons learned, best practices and the way forward on delivering education in fragile and conflict - affected states.

Organized by Aga Khan Foundation Canada in partnership with Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD), the panel discussed the role of governments, civil society, and multilateral institutions in delivering
education programs in challenging post-conflict environments.

President Karzai Strongly Condemns Killing of 19 Army Soldiers
February 23 , 2014
Initial reports by the Ministry of Defense indicate that the enemies of Afghanistan attacked last night two Afghan National Army posts on Ghaziabad highway in Kunar province in which 19 soldiers were killed and 6 others went missing. 

President Karzai condemns the terrorist attack in the strongest possible terms and praised the brave soldiers who lost their lives defending and protecting their country’s national honors.

Foreign Minister Met with Canadian Ambassador to Kabul

KABUL – Foreign Minister Zarar Ahmad Osmani met with the Canadian Ambassador to Kabul Deborah Lyons.
Both sides talked and exchanged views on different issues of interest. The Foreign Minister welcomed the ambassador and talked about friendly relations between the two countries. The Foreign Minister said: “Relations between Afghanistan and Canada are very important for us. Canada is a country that has cooperated with Afghanistan during the past decade in security, developmental, and infrastructural areas; and the Afghan people really appreciate it”.

Ajax, Ontario – Senior Political Advisor Sharif Ghalib joined community representatives, religious leaders and local service providers at McLean Community Center in Ajax, greater Toronto area, as part of a forum on violence against women, dubbed “It’s Never Ok”.

Organized by the Canadian Afghan Council (CAC) with support of the Town of Ajax, the forum brought together a sizable crowd of community members of diverse background, activists and volunteers.

President Karzai Congratulates People of Afghanistan on FIFA Fair Play Award
January 14, 2014
President Hamid Karzai congratulated the people of Afghanistan and Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) for receiving the Fair Play award by the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) and called it good news as we begin 2014.

The Afghanistan Football Federation won the FIFA 2013 Fair Play award for adherence to fair play international rules at the FIFA Ballon d’Or 2013 awards ceremony in Zurich city of Switzerland on Monday night.

The membership of Afghanistan to the International Union of Railways (UIC) was officially declared at the 83rd General Assembly ofthe UIC held on December 12 in Paris. Emirates Begins Flights to Afghanistan

Officials of Emirates Airlines have announced that flights to and from Afghanistan have officially begun, and the route will maintain seven roundtrip flights between Dubai and Kabul a week.

November 26 , 2013
Kabul- The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan welcomes the agreement reached on November 24 in Geneva between our neighboring, friendly and brotherly country, the Islamic Republic of Iran and P5+1 group.

The Afghan government is hopeful that the remaining issues will be solved in the coming six months and both parties will reach to a comprehensive agreement.

Mr. Fahimi teaches high school mathematics as well as the International Baccalaureate Mathematics Standard Level program at Sir Wilfrid Lauier Collegiate Institute. He also teaches Mathematics part-time in the position of professor in the Engineering Technology and Applied Science (SETAS) Mathematics department at Centennial College.
