Arg, Kabul – H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, met with H.E. Carlos M. Gutierrez, Secretary of the United States Department of Commerce at the Gulkhana palace this afternoon.

During this meeting, the President and Secretary Gutierrez discussed The strong economic and commercial relationship between Afghanistan and the United States of America.

Bagram, Afghanistan — The Tripartite Commission, composed of senior military and diplomatic representatives from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Coalition Forces in Afghanistan, held its fifteenth meeting in Bagram, Afghanistan on February 25th. Delegates included Lieutenant General Sher M. Karimi, Chief of Operations of the Afghan National Army, Major General Muhammad Yousaf, Director General of Military Operations of the Pakistan Army and Lieutenant General Karl W. Eikenberry, Commander, Combined Forces Command – Afghanistan.

Arg, Kabul – H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, visited the province of Takhar today and inaugurated the Taloqan-Keshm road this afternoon.

During the inauguration ceremony the President said, “Three years ago, I had made a commitment to the people of Badakhshan to rebuild the Taloqan-Keshm road and today I am very pleased to be here and to inaugurate this long-awaited road. I hope the Taloqan-Keshm road will extend towards Tajikistan and Chinese borders to increase trade in the region.”

رئیس جمهورکشور در مراسم افتتاح بازسازی این سرک گفت: سه سال قبل به مردم بدخشان وعده بازسازی سرک آن ولایت را نموده بودم و امروز خوشحالم که این وعده عملی میشود. ـ

رئیس جمهور کشور علاوه کرد، آرزوی من این است که سرک تالقان - کشم الی مرز های تاجکستان و چین امتداد یابد و از این طریق تجارت و ارتباطات مردمی توسعهء مزید یابد. ـ

ISLAMABAD: Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Thursday promised not to allow any country to interfere in Afghanistan’s relations with Pakistan, saying he knew the consequences for his country in such a case.

Arg, Kabul – H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, strongly condemned the killing of 4 US soldiers in the province of Uruzgan.

In his reaction to the news the President said, “Terrorist attacks have been taking place in Afghanistan for sometime now, which have claimed the lives of international soldiers and Afghans alike. We must fight this menace together until it is removed from the region and the world.”

The President expressed his deep sympathies and condolences to the families of the victims.

Arg, Kabul – H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, will make a two-day working visit to Pakistan on Wednesday, 17 February 2006. During the visit, the President will hold meetings with H.E. Pervez Musharaf, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and H.E. Shaukat Aziz, Prime Minister of Pakistan and other senior Pakistani officials.

Arg, Kabul – H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, strongly condemned today’s terrorist attack in Kandahar province, which killed 13 people and wounded a dozen people.

In his reaction to the news the President said, “The Taliban have been resorting to killing our Ulemas, teachers, students and innocent Afghan civilians since their defeat and their brazen admission that they carried out today’s terrorist attack in Kandahar unveils their hidden agendas to the people of Afghanistan.”

“The enemies of Afghanistan are trying to hinder Afghanistan’s progress towards peace and democracy by disrupting the peace process in our country. Today’s heinous act of terrorism is against the values of Islam and humanity.”

The President expressed his heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the full recovery of the injured.

Arg, Kabul – H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, received a phone call from H.E. Jens Stoltenberg, Prime Minister of Norway this afternoon. The President and the Prime Minister discussed the blasphemous cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), which was published in some European newspapers.

Prime Minister Stoltenberg expressed his regret at this unfortunate incident and his concern at today’s demonstrations in Faryab province of Afghanistan which involved an attack on Norwegian soldiers operating under the Provincial Reconstruction Teams (PRT).

The President strongly condemned the blasphemous cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad and expressed his regret at the unfortunate incident in the province of Faryab and said, “The people of Afghanistan realize that European soldiers serving in Afghanistan have nothing to do with the publishing of the blasphemous cartoons and it is the responsibility of the people of Afghanistan to ensure the security of the international soldiers who are helping the people of Afghanistan with stability and reconstruction.”

Representatives from more than 60 nations and international organizations were present at Lancaster House in London for the formal unveiling of the Compact. The Compact, a blueprint for the next stage of Afghanistan’s rebuilding, follows the completion of the Bonn process which ended with the inauguration of an elected parliament and provincial councils in December.
