H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, made a phone call to H.E. Pervez Musharraf, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan last night.
During this conversation that took 57 minutes the two Presidents discussed all matters of bilateral concerns. Particularly, the issue of security and the fight against terrorism were discussed in a frank and friendly manner.
Both Presidents agreed that the discussion on mutual interest shall continue in the future and that bilateral visits of high level officials should also increase. |

H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, is disturbed by the news of a bomb Blast which occurred in Pol e Charkhi, Kabul, killing at least 9 people and wounding dozens.
In his reaction to the news the President said, “I am saddened that the lives of many Afghan people, mainly soldiers serving the Afghan nation was lost. I condemn it in the strongest terms.”
“I extend my deepest sympathies to the victims of this attack.” The President has ordered the relevant authorities for an immediate investigation into the incident. |

H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, strongly condemns the killing of Mohammad Ashraf Ramazan, an influential Afghan personality in Mazar e Sharif, Balkh province.
It’s been reported that Mr. Ramazan was driving through the city of Mazar-i-Sharif when his car was attacked by unknown gunmen.
Mr. Ramazan was a candidate in the Parliamentary elections. In his reaction to the news, the President said: “Mr. Ramazan was a patriot who had well served his community. I am deeply disturbed by this crime; I strongly condemn the killing of Mohammad Ashraf Ramazan.”
The President has ordered security organs of the government to urgently investigate the incident and to bring the culprits to justice as soon as possible. The President also presents his heartfelt condolences to the family of Mohammed Ashraf Ramazan. |

H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, received a phone call today from H.E. George W. Bush, President of the United States of America. President Bush thanked the people of Afghanistan for their assistance to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Speaking about the parliamentary election on Sunday President Bush said He was delighted to see the campaigning and other preparations for the elections going smoothly, and extended his best wishes to the people of Afghanistan. President Bush assured President Karzai of the United State's continued support and commitment to the reconstruction of Afghanistan.
President Karzai thanked President Bush for the phone call and wished that the Afghan people could do more to assist the victims of hurricane Katrina. The President said, "The people of the United States have given us generous support in difficult times and we wish we could have done more to help them." President Karzai briefed President Bush on the preparations for the parliamentary election and expressed satisfaction at the level of participations.
The President invited President Bush to visit Afghanistan and address the Afghan parliament once it convenes. The President thanked once again the people of the United States for their assistance to Afghanistan. |

H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, is saddened by the death of 117 Indonesians on board a Boeing 737-200 plane which crashed onto a busy road in the Padang Bulan residential area near the city’s airport.
According to reports, 117 on board the plane and about 30 more on the ground were killed as a result of the crash.
The President, on behalf of the people of Afghanistan and the Government, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Indonesia. |

H.E Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, in a written letter to George W. Bush, President of the United States of America, extended his deepest sorrow and condolences to the people of the United States for the loss of lives and massive destruction caused by hurricane Katrina.
The President stated, “I pray for the full recovery of the injured and for swift rebuilding of the lives of those affected.”
“We in Afghanistan share your sorrow and understand the difficulties of experiencing large scale death and destruction. On behalf of the Afghan people, I express our solidarity to you and to the people of the United States at this difficult day.” |
