Presidential Palace, Kabul - H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, left
today for Madrid, Spain, on an invitation by H.M. King Juan Carlos of Spain. The President will attend the
International Summit on Democracy, Terrorism and Security.
The International Summit on Democracy, Terrorism and Security is taking place from 08 until 11 March 2005
and expects 50 former or present Heads of States, as well as more than 200 academics and scholars.
During his trip, the President will also hold bilateral talks with the Spanish Government and will take
the opportunity of this trip to thank the Spanish people for their contributions to the security and
reconstruction of Afghanistan.
