H.E Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, congratulates Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for being elected as the President of Iran today.

In a special congratulatory message sent to Mr. Ahmadinejad the President said, “The Afghan people join me today in congratulating you and the brotherly nation of Iran on electing you as their new President.”

“Iran and Afghanistan are two countries with deep cultural and historical affinity. The People of Afghanistan will never forget the assistance and hospitality provided to the Afghan refugees from the people of Iran during the resistance of the Afghan people against the Soviet invasion. With your election we hope that the relationship of Afghanistan and Iran will flourish further.” the President added. The President wished Mr. Ahmadinejad success.
