Presidential Palace, Kabul - H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic State of Afghanistan, is deeply saddened by the news confirming the crash of Kam Air Boeing 737 plane that had been missing since Thursday 03 February 2005.

The search and rescue teams were able yesterday afternoon to locate the site, near the district of Khak-e Jabar to the east of Kabul, where the crash took place. The President follows the progress of the rescue operations very closely, and has issued necessary instructions for determining casualties and other circumstances of this tragedy.

The President is praying, along with families and friends, for those who were on the plane.
