Voices on the Rise: Afghan Women Making the News photojournalism exhibition opened at the University of Ottawa on Thursday, October 5th to a warm and welcoming crowd. From there the exhibit went on to open at Carleton University on Monday, October 23rd, and has received a very positive reception from both the public and the press since its opening.

بتاریخ دوشنبه 23 اکتوبر 2006 میلادی جناب عمر صمد، سفیر جمهوری اسلامی افغانستان در کانادا به همراه تعدادی از کارمندان سفارت در نماز عید سعید فطر در شهر تورنتو اشتراک نمودند.

در این محفل باشکوه که همه ساله به همت مسئولین محترم مسجد امت نبوی شهر تورنتو و به اشتراک جمع کثیری از افغان های مقیم آن شهر تدویر می یابد، سفیر افغانستان قبل از ادای نماز عید به ایراد سخن پرداختند.

در این سخنرانی بعد از ابراز تبریکی بمناسبت حلول عید سعید فطر، سفیر افغانستان ضمن صحبت روی روند بازسازی در کشور، در مورد سفر جلالتمآب رئیس جمهور و هیأت محترم معیتی شان به کانادا و دستاوردهای این سفر تاریخی و دلایل دیدار از ولایت کیوبک توضیحات ارائه داشته، ضمن تقدیر از کمکهای همه جانبۀ دولت کانادا به افغانستان از کمکهای چند ماهۀ اخیر در بخش های انکشافی و بازسازی یادآوری نمودند.

همچنین در ادامۀ این سخنرانی نظر به حساسیت های قضیۀ افغانستان و نقش مثبت فعلی کانادا، جامعۀ افغانی مقیم آن شهر تشویق گردید تا در قبال مسایل مربوط به وطن آبائی شان خاموش نبوده و همچون سایر کمیونیتی ها از حقوق قانونی شهروندی خود در جهت منافع ملی و روابط دو جانبه استفاده نمایند.

Afghan Ambassador thanks Canada for aid to fight Polio

Ottawa – Afghanistan’s Ambassador thanked the Canadian Government for its announcement through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)on Thursday to allocate CAN$5 million to immunize over seven million children in Afghanistan. These funds will be allocated to the World Health Organization and UNICEF as part of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI).

While The Honourable Josee Verner, Minister of International Cooperation and Minister for La Francophonie and Official Languages, and Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Canada, H.E. Omar Samad, were participating at the opening of a photojournalism exhibit on Afghan women journalists at the University of Ottawa, the Afghan envoy used the occasion to express his appreciation on behalf of his government.
