Rocket hits Kabul military hospital

KABUL, May 15, (Pajhwok Afghan News):Eyewitnesses claim that a fire at a military hospital in the capital Kabul was caused when a rocket exploded around 2200Hrs, but interior ministry officials say they will determine the cause of the fire after further investigations.

The blaze was eventually brought under control by fire fighters who rushed to the scene, but the fire is believed to have caused extensive damage to the building.

The hospital is on a main street, the Interior Ministry Road, where the offices of the Indian embassy and the Interior ministry are housed. Abdul Hamid was out for a stroll with his friends when he ‘heard a rocket had hit the hospital 20 meters away from where he was."

There were no reported casualties, but several rooms at the hospital were ravaged by the flames that lasted for several hours. Speaking on behalf of the Interior ministry, Dad Mohammad Rasa said the findings of the investigations will be revealed when complete. “The investigations into the fire aren't complete."

Rasa added that fire was extinguished during the early hours of the morning, at around 0100, but the fire restarted at 0300, and the it was brought under control by 0700.
