(Kabul Times) Unidentified men set fire to the house of a female candidate for the September parliamentary elections in the village of Porak, Logar province, on May 9. The candidate, Zubaida Estanakzai, and her family were not injured. Interior ministry spokesman Lutfullah Mashal said he was unaware of the incident, but added that at a May 10 government meeting, officials were told to make maximum efforts to ensure the security of parliamentary candidates, and to encourage women to stand.
