The 7th ministerial meeting of the tripartite commission of Pakistan, Afghanistan and United Nations High Commission for Refugees would take place on May 12 here on Afghan refugees' repatriation.
According to local press reports on Wednesday, the commission would take important decisions regarding the closure of Afghan refugees camps in Pakistan besides reviewing the situation in specific urban clusters. These include Afghan refugees' population in Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Islamabad.
The commission on voluntary repatriation was set up in 2003 between the government of Pakistan, Afghanistan and the UNHCR.
Almost 2.3 million have gone back to Afghanistan since the fall of Taliban regime in 2002. However, still more than 3 million are here. |
