 The Ambassador and Embassy staff meet with 11 members of the Afghan National Army in Ottawa who are attending language courses at Saint Jean Military School in Quebec. On this occasion, which coincides with Victory day in Afghanistan, a few members of the Afghan community were also invited for a reception at the Embassy. |

| Amb. Samad meets with Mr. Hau Sing Tse, Vice President of Asia Branch at CIDA headquarters. The two sides express common viewpoints on the significance of the Afghanistan Development Forum recently held in Kabul and Afghanistan’s emerging strategy to tackle the challenges that lie ahead. Mr. Tse briefs the Ambassador on Canada’s new international policy framework and assures of Canada’s continued support for Afghanistan’s development goals. |

Le samedi 16 avril 2005, Mr Mehrabodin MASSTAN, Conseiller auprès de l’Ambassade d’Afghanistan au Canada a participe à la parade de reconnaissance organise dans le but de remettre l’Etoile de Campagne Générale (ECG) ou la Médaille du Service Générale (MSG) aux membres des diverses formations du Secteur du Québec de la Force terrestre de la Région de Montréal ayant participe a l’opération ATHENA.
Lors de cette cérémonie officielle Brigadier Général Gaston COTE, Commandant du Secteur du Québec de la Force Terrestre du Canada et Madame Line BEAUCHAMP, Ministre de la Culture et des Communications du Québec ont prit la parole pour saluer le travail courageux des militaires canadiens en Afghanistan. Puis, Mr M. MASSTAN, le Conseiller de l’Ambassade d’Afghanistan a prononce un discours au nom de son gouvernement pour remercier le Canada et en particulier les militaires canadiens pour aide et assistance qu’ils apportent en Afghanistan.
Plus de 200 militaires et civiles ont participe a cette cérémonie dans une ambiance chaleureuse et amicale.
